of our blood donors commit even more
of their time through an automated
donating procedure called apheresis.
Automated donations ensure that the
blood components patients need come
from fewer donors, thus providing the
safest blood products. The procedure
also produces an abundance of platelets,
used by the body to help blood to clot
or to stop bleeding. These are especially
useful for patients undergoing cancer
therapy, cardiac surgery and other
blood diseases. |
