About the Foundation

The Foundation was chartered by Community Blood Services in 2000 to be responsible for collecting contributions and grants to help acquire technology, equipment and other items necessary to the operations of Community Blood Services programs and services, which include its blood collection services, its public (New Jersey Cord Blood Bank) and family (Elie Katz Umbilical Cord Blood Program) umbilical cord blood programs and its bone marrow registry (The HLA Registry).

The Foundation sponsors fundraising events that include an annual gala, golf tournament and Sports Nite. We also rely on the generous support we receive in response to our applications requesting contributions from corporations, foundations and the community. In addition, we also depend on state and federal grants that we are eligible to receive because we provide a critical service in the states health care infrastructure.

Recent projects making full use of your donations:

  • Rehabilitation and restructuring of the main Paramus blood donor center;
  • Construction and opening of a new fixed donation center in New Windsor (Newburgh), NY;
  • Acquisition of a new midsize bloodmobile to be based full time at New Windsor;
  • Purchase of liquid nitrogen freezers for cord blood storage at our New Jersey Cord Blood Bank, the state-designated bank for public cord blood

FOR YOUR GENEROSITY IN HELPING US TO SAVE LIVES, WE THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS.
