Community
Blood Services and New York Renaissance Faire
Work Together to Ease Blood Crisis
|
|
|
The
first 400 community blood donors will receive two complimentary
tickets to the 25th annual New York Renaissance Faire
when they donate on August 7th, 8th or 9th at Community
Blood Services (CBS) in Paramus. |
This
special promotion is designed to encourage donors to make
appointments during August, when blood donations are traditionally
at their lowest. |
"We
need people to donate to ensure our hospitals get the
blood they need for surgeries and other critical medical
treatments," said Dr. Dennis Todd, president and CEO of
Community Blood Services. |
New
Jersey and the New York metropolitan area are experiencing
one of the worst blood shortages in history. Community
Blood Services has had less than a one-day supply on its
shelves for many weeks now. |
"This
is a great way to spend a day filled with magic, pageantry
and adventure and also save the lives of critically ill
patients in our community," said Susan Mysliwiec, director
of donor recruitment. |
"We
hope that these tickets to the Faire help boost donations
for this drive during a time of critical need in our communities,"
said Joe Gargiulo, director of communications for the
Faire. |
The
blood center is located at 970 Linwood Avenue West in
Paramus. It is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 8pm,
and Saturday, 9am to 2pm. Walk-ins are welcome. Platelet
donations are by appointment. |
The
Renaissance Faire, located in Sterling Forest, Tuxedo,
New York, brings 16th-century England to life amidst 65
enchanting acres. Visitors at the Faire will enjoy jousting
tournaments, a crafts marketplace and continuous entertainment
on more than 14 stages. The Faire runs Saturdays, Sundays,
and Labor Day from August 3 to September 15. |
A
not-for profit organization, Community Blood Services
supplies blood and blood products to 33 hospitals in Bergen,
Passaic and Essex counties, as well as in New York City
and Orange and Rockland counties in New York. |
