Free Car Wash at Community Blood Services
Donors who donate whole blood or platelets at Community Blood Services on the first four Saturdays in August can get their cars washed for free.
Cars will be washed from 9am to 1 pm at the blood center at 970 Linwood Avenue West on the following Saturdays: August 3, 10, 17 and 24.
With summer blood collections at critical levels, what better incentive is there than to come in and get your car washed for free and at the same time help save lives, said Susan Mysliwiec, director of donor recruitment.

Currently, Community Blood Services has less than a one-day supply of blood on hand for the 33 hospitals it services in northern New Jersey and in parts of New York City and Rockland and Orange counties in New York. Blood donations drop during the summer months because many donors go on vacation, making it difficult to maintain an adequate blood supply.

Whole blood donors must be 18-75 years old (17 with parental permission), and must weigh at least 110 pounds.

To make an appointment to donate whole blood, please call 201-251-3703 in New Jersey or, in New York, (866) 228-1500. Walk-ins are also welcome. To donate platelets, call 201-251-3733.
A non-profit organization, Community Blood Services is not affiliated with the American Red Cross. It is a member of Americas Blood Centers (ABC), a network of non-profit community blood centers located in 45 states that collects about half of the U.S. blood supply.
