The need for blood right now is REAL, it does not stop for bad weather. During this week’s snowstorm, our donor rooms were closed, blood drives were canceled, and we were unable to receive incoming blood supplies because airports were closed. Because of this, we lost more than 300 life-giving units of blood and platelets for the patients in our local hospitals who desperately need it.
We need your help to replenish our blood supply before the next weather event, especially platelets and Type O negative blood. About one in seven hospital admissions requires a blood transfusion. In addition to trauma victims, blood is especially important for premature babies and people with leukemia and other forms of cancer.
Please find some time to make an appointment or walk into one of our donor centers to make a blood donation. Please share this email to let others know about our critical need. Local hospital patients are depending on you.
You can make your appointment online or by calling
201-251-3703.
