Make Your Lifesaving Donation For Chance to Win iPod Nano or TV December
Community Blood Services is urging all eligible volunteer donors to donate blood at a mobile blood drive or one of its convenient donation sites this holiday season to give the gift of life and help alleviate an anticipated blood shortage.
Donors who donate in December will be eligible to win a prize during two special holiday raffles being held as a thank you for taking time out of their busy schedules to donate. Those who donate from December 1st through the 14th will be eligible to win an iPod Nano, while those who donate December 15th through 31st will be entered into a raffle to win a LG 32-inch 1080P LED television.
All blood types and products are in demand at this time of the year, including Type O negative. Type O negative blood is the universal blood type which can be transfused to patients with any blood type, especially in emergency situations. Platelets for cancer patients and A and AB male plasma for trauma victims also is needed.
When the holiday season arrives, people are so busy traveling, shopping, and performing other holiday tasks that they forget the need for blood and platelets does not take a vacation. We still need donors to come out and donate so we can continue to meet the needs of the seriously ill patients in the more than 18 hospitals we serve, said Karen Ferriday, director of community affairs at Community Blood Services.
Scheduling your donation appointment during December or January at one of our convenient donation sites can really make a difference in someones life, Ferriday said.
