New Donor Room Opening in Montvale
Community Blood Services is pleased to announce the opening of its newest donor site in Montvale on August 5. The site is at our corporate headquarters at the corner of Grand Avenue and Chestnut Ridge Road, conveniently located in Bergen County off Exit 172 of the Garden State Parkway. The donor room will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 201-251-3703.
Initially platelet and plasma donors are being invited to donate in order to meet the current needs of our hospital clients but the hope is to begin collecting automated red blood cells shortly. The new donor room also will be used to collect peripheral blood stem cells for bone marrow transplant patients, granulocytes, and mononuclear cells for cellular therapy products under development for the treatment of various cancers.
Donors coming from New York can take the New York State (NYST) Thruway to the Garden State Parkway (GSP) South to the School House Road exit, the last exit in New York. At the light at the bottom of the ramp, turn right and proceed east to the second traffic light (Grand Avenue). Turn right on Grand Avenue and go to the second traffic light at the corner of Grand Avenue and Chestnut Hill Road.
Donors coming from the south can take the GSP North to Exit 172. Turn left off the ramp and go to the light at the corner of Grand Avenue and Chestnut Hill Road.
The two-story glass Community Blood Services’ building is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Grand Avenue and Chestnut Hill Road. Park in front of the building and enter on the first floor. The donor room entrance will be on your right, just past the staircase.
