Blood Drive & Holistic Health Expo
At West Side Presbyterian Church

RIDGEWOOD, NJ - West Side Presbyterian Church will partner with Community Blood Services to hold a blood drive during its Holistic Health Expo on Saturday, October 29.

The drive will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a bloodmobile in the parking lot near the entrance to the church located at 6 South Monroe Street. The Health Expo begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.

�Blood donors of all types are urgently needed to meet the needs of patients in the more than 25 hospitals we serve,� said Karen Ferriday, community affairs director at Community Blood Services. �With less than a two-day supply of blood on our shelves in recent weeks, we are urging church and community members who are eligible to donate to make an appointment to do so on the 29th.�

Donors can schedule an appointment to donate at the drive by calling 201-251-3703 or 201-251-7775. All donors will receive free health screenings, including non-fasting cholesterol and glucose screenings, when they donate. Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years of age (16 with parental permission) and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Ferriday said the blood center depends upon churches like West Side, and other community organizations, businesses and schools, to hold lifesaving blood drives to treat critically ill and injured patients in its community. West Side�s Holistic Health Expo will have certified practitioners on hand to introduce participants to complementary therapies that provide an integrative approach to healing the whole person through yoga classes for children and adults, therapeutic massage, spiritual direction, T�ai Chi Chih, Zen meditation, Energy medicine, chiropractics, IGM therapeutic acupressure, healthy nutritional information, music and vibrational therapy, and more.
