Donate Blood and Receive 2 Mets Tickets June 17, 2011
Community Blood Services invites donors to make a blood or platelet donation at its Paramus Donor Center on Friday, June 17th and receive a complimentary pair of tickets to attend a New York Mets game on Thursday, June 23rd.
Located at 970 Linwood Avenue West, the Paramus center will be open for donations on Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donors can schedule an appointment by clicking here or calling 201-251-3703.
Offering our volunteer blood donors Mets tickets is our way of saying thank you to them for taking time out of their busy days to donate and give the gift of life, said Garrett Allen, call center manager at Community Blood Services.
Currently, there is an urgent need for blood donors, especially Type O negative, the universal donor, and for Type O cmv negative donors to treat critically ill babies, Allen said. Traditionally, the supply starts dropping after Memorial Day and throughout the summer months, when donors begin going on vacation and have less time to donate.
It becomes more and more difficult to maintain the blood supply and ensure blood is available for the patients who need it. We need donors to please consider donating regularly to help replenish the supply said Allen.
Blood and platelet donors must be 17-75 years old (16 years old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors also receive complimentary non-fasting cholesterol and glucose screenings.
Community Blood Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides blood and blood products to 25 hospitals in New Jersey and New York. |
