Be a Volunteer Blood Donor, Get a Shop Rite Gift Card

Receive a complimentary Shop Rite gift card when you donate blood or platelets on Tuesday, March 15 at Community Blood Services� New Windsor donor center.

�Your blood donation could save up to three lives,� said Karen Ferriday, director of community affairs, noting that while 37% of the population nationwide is eligible to donate blood less than 10% actually do. She said donors with all blood types are needed, especially O negative and O positive, in order to meet the needs of patients at area hospitals.

Donors can donate from 1 to 5 p.m. at the New Windsor center, 575 Hudson Valley Avenue, Suite 206.

Community Blood Services provides blood and blood products to more than 30 hospitals in New York and New Jersey, including Orange Regional Medical Center and St. Luke�s hospitals.

Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years old (16 years old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Complimentary non-fasting cholesterol and glucose health screenings are offered with every donation.
