March 5, 2011

Paramus, NJ The Ridgewood AM and Bergen Community College(BCC) rotary clubs have joined together to present a jazz concert featuring half a dozen world famous jazz musicians to help raise funds for several non-profit groups, including Community Blood Services.

The concert, being billed as a "New York City Experience," will be held Saturday, March 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College, 400 Paramus Road.

Proceeds will benefit Community Blood Services, the Social Service Association and BCCs Scholarships for the Needy.

"Community Blood Services is honored to have been chosen by the Ridgewood AM Rotary Club to be a beneficiary of proceeds from the rotarys upcoming jazz concert. The work of Rotary International and Community Blood Services goes hand-in-hand, as both organizations have a worldwide and local community impact that saves lives," said Vernon Reed, vice president of development at Community Blood Services and a member of the Ridgewood AM Rotary.

"I am proud to be associated with organizations that do such extraordinary work around the corner and around the world," Reed added.

Community Blood Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides blood and blood products to patients in more than 30 hospitals in New Jersey and New York. It operates donor centers in both states, including a center in Paramus, and runs mobile blood drives throughout the region.

Jazz greats scheduled to perform will include Bill OConnell, Luques Curtis, Dave Samuels, Conrad Herwig, Steve Slagle and Steve Berrios.

The $75 admission cost will include the concert and a light fare reception with the musicians.
