Twas two nights before Christmas
And all through the center
Not a donor was stirring
They yet could not enter
The staff starting pacing
Their faces tight with worry
"We need many units,
They said, "in a hurry"
"Donate blood, donate blood,
Give all you can spare,
Meeting patient needs
Is a goal that we share"
But what do we see, by the door but a few
Streams of donors who care
"Take a pint, maybe two"
As they went to the beds
Rolling up all their sleeves,
Giving platelets and plasma,
And watching tv’s
They came in, they came in, showing they care
"We knew that they would"
A gift of life, they do share.
