TUXEDO PARK, NY - Community Blood Services will hold a blood drive on Friday, October 29th at The Forest of Fear Halloween attraction, located across the street from The New York Renaissance Faire grounds at 600 Route 17A.
Anyone who donates blood at the drive between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. that evening will receive one free admission to The Forest of Fears Slaughterhouse and The Slaughterhouse Sideshow. Discovery Channel calls The Forest of Fear, One of the scariest places in America.
What better way to spend the night before Halloween than by giving us your blood before checking out the Forest of Fears fabulous haunted house and sideshows, said Patricia Cascino, recruitment manager at Community Blood Services.
One blood donation can save up to three lives, Cascino said, noting there currently is less than a one-day supply of blood on Community Blood Services shelves. All types are needed, she said, especially O negative, A negative and B negative.
Christopher DeTroy, creative director of The Forest of Fear attraction, encourages guests, We want your blood, seriouslythen come experience for yourself why, Screaming Is Only the Beginning!
The Forest of Fear is open rain or shine, October 8th thru October 31st, 2010 on Fridays, nightfall until 12 a.m.; Saturdays, nightfall until 1 a.m.; and Sundays, nightfall until 11 p.m. General admission is $20. For information on the event, including on-line advance tickets, visit www.theforestoffear.com.
Every donor will receive a free admission pass at the time of his or her donation. To schedule your appointment to donate blood at The Forest of Fear event, call 201-251-3703 (NJ) or 845-220-2030 (NY). Walk ins are also welcome.
As part of Community Blood Services partnership with The New York Renaissance Faire, the blood center offered free health screenings to its actors, vendors and artisans through the centers WeCare Health and Wellness Program. The Forest of Fear blood drive, held across from the New York Renaissance fairgrounds, is being held to increase awareness of the importance of blood donation and to support patients in New York hospitals who need blood.
Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years old (16 years old with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors also receive complimentary non-fasting cholesterol, non-fasting glucose, hemoglobin and blood pressure screenings. |
