At Lincoln Park Center Donor Center:
Free Renaissance Faire Tickets on Saturday, T-Shirt & Breakfast on Sunday

September 4 & 5, 2010

Any donor who donates at the Lincoln Park Donor Center on Saturday, Sept. 4th will receive two complimentary tickets to the New York Renaissance Faire, while those who donate at the Lincoln Park site on Sunday, Sept. 5th will receive complimentary Recycle Life T-shirts and a breakfast to thank them for coming out to help save lives on this holiday weekend.

The center, located at 64 Beaverbrook Road, Suite 304, is open both days from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Your donation of blood during these summer months, when donations are at their lowest, can help ensure there is always blood available for those who need it in our community hospitals, said Karen Ferriday, community affairs director at Community Blood Services. She said volunteer donors are needed through the beginning weeks of September to help boost the dwindling summer supply.

To schedule an appointment to donate, call 201-251-3703 or schedule online at www.communitybloodservices.com. Walk-ins are welcome but an appointment is recommended.

Community Blood Services needs to collect 250 pints of blood each day in order to meet the transfusion needs of patients at the more than 30 hospitals it serves in New Jersey and New York. In recent days, there has been less than a one-day supply on the shelves. All blood types are needed, especially O negative, A negative and B negative.

Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years old (16 years old with parental permission) and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors also receive a complimentary mini-physical which includes cholesterol, blood pressure, hemoglobin, and glucose screenings.

The New York Renaissance Faire is open rain or shine, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays (including Labor Day), August 7 through September 26. Visit www.renfair.com for discount tickets and event details. Children under 5 are always free!
