There
will be a blood drive and free tax/retirement planning seminar
on Wednesday, February 27th at Community Blood Services |
The
blood drive will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the center at
970 Linwood Avenue West. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Gilman & Ciocia,
Inc., one of the country's largest tax preparation firms located
in Washington Township, will sponsor a seminar in the center's
conference room on how to reduce your taxes while increasing
your retirement income. |
Featured
speakers Kathy Travis, CPA and Mary Tom, LLC will speak on the
new tax law changes and estate planning. They will discuss how
to reduce or eliminate taxes on Social Security; how to pay
less tax utilizing the 2001 tax law changes; and how to maximize
requirement income with minimal risk. |
The
combined blood drive and seminar were set up to attract blood
donors because the blood supply has again dropped to the dangerously
low level that was experienced before September 11th. |
Currently
the center has only a two-day supply of blood. Ideally, it should
have a 5-to-7-day blood reserve in order to meet the growing
needs of the hospitals it serves. |
Anyone
wishing to donate and attend the seminar should call 201-251-3703.
Appointments are required. |
A
not-for-profit organization, Community Blood Services provides
blood and blood products to 30 hospitals and medical centers
in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Essex and Hudson counties in New
Jersey, as well as in New York City and Rockland and Orange
counties in New York. |
Whole
blood donors must be 18-75 years old (17 with parent's permission),
and weigh at least 110 pounds. |
