3 High Schools Receive Awards

Three high schools that participated in Community Blood Services’ academic program were recognized at the blood center’s awards dinner at Season’s restaurant in Washington Township on June 11th.

The three top academic program participants were Hackensack High School with 201 pints collected, Clifton High School with 176 pints and Ramsey High School with a total of 107 pints.

Each of these schools was awarded a scholarship, special display banner and certificate of appreciation. Student and faculty from each school were on hand to accept their awards.

Morristown High School students helped to put together a blood drive for a fellow student, Nicole Lombardi, who was diagnosed with leukemia.

Ramsey High School seniors (from left, clockwise) Venessa Smith, Stephen Costello as Bernie the Blood Drop, Nicole Nakagawa, and Carla Silverman were among the juniors and seniors participating in Ramsey High School's annual blood drive on May 24th. They recruited 38 fellow classmates and teachers to donate blood. Students worked at the donor canteen, recruited blood donors, and walked the hallways dressed as Bernie to remind students of the importance of donating blood
