Anyone who successfully donates whole blood or platelets at Community
Blood Services’ Paramus center on Friday or Saturday, August 18th or
19th, or at the Lincoln Park or Goshen centers on Saturday, August 19th,
will receive a pair of free movie tickets.
August is traditionally the month when the blood supply is at its lowest
because people are on vacation and fewer blood drives are organized by
schools, community groups and corporations. The metropolitan area is
currently facing a critical blood shortage, with all blood types needed,
particularly O negative.
Community Blood Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides
blood and blood products to 37 hospitals in Bergen, Essex, Hudson,
Morris, and Passaic counties in New Jersey, as well as in New York City
and Orange and Rockland counties in southern New York State.
The Paramus center, located at 970 Linwood Avenue West, is open weekdays
from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lincoln
Park center, located at 63 Beaver Brook Road, is open on Saturdays from
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Goshen center, located at 7 Coates Drive, Suite 5,
is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To make an appointment to donate blood at our New Jersey locations,
please call (201)251-3703. For appointments at our Goshen donor center,
please call (845)294-3362. Walk-ins are also welcome. An appointment is
needed to donate platelets.
Whole blood donors must be 17-75 years old and weigh at least 110
pounds. Donors also receive a complimentary cholesterol screening. |
